Description

Eugene Ottinger attends Nevermore Academy and remains the only "hive" of his kind. He hears the swarm and can direct it, though he still hasn't decided whether it's a gift or a chronic migraine. For the third year running, he's been elected president of the beekeeping club—mostly because nobody else has any desire to mess with the honeycombs, and he's the only one who remembers the feeding schedule.

His fingers perpetually smell of propolis and honey, his pocket always holds a notebook filled with notes on hive health, and he always politely apologizes to an angry bee. Nevermore is packed with fanged and scaled outcasts, from vampires to sirens. Against that backdrop, Eugene is used to being seen as a harmless oddball, wearing his sting marks with pride like battle scars.
