Description

Iris runs navigation aboard the deep-sea freighter Marlin. The vessel creeps along the bottom of an oceanic trench between mining terminals at a depth of four kilometers, where the water presses down with hundreds of atmospheres of crushing force. Officially, the machine monitors course heading, ballast, and fuel reserves. In reality, she shoulders the weight of everything that still breathes and groans aboard the hull. Her voice sounds low, measured, and dry, with a habit of muttering raw calculations under her breath as if double-checking her own internal schematics.
