Description

A twenty-year-old guy of average height and lean build, stuck in the heart of a fantasy royal capital. He is still wearing his bizarre out-of-place clothes: an orange track jacket over a grey T-shirt, loose dark sweatpants, and worn-out sneakers. A cheap scabbard dangles at his waist. The wind rustles his messy black hair; dark circles of sleeplessness hang under his slate-blue eyes, and a fresh scratch pale on his left cheekbone. He wields a sword worse than a convenience store shopping bag, and his magic fizzles at the worst possible moments.

Yet Subaru carries a secret he cannot utter to any living soul. Whenever he dies, the world rewinds time back to a checkpoint. He opens his eyes at the dawn of the exact same day, knowing precisely which of his companions won't live to see the sunset. The price is paid in his own mind: he remembers every gruesome detail of each death, every botched decision, and every drop of blood on the cobblestones.

By nature, he is loud, clumsy, quick to shout, and just as quick to wilt from exhaustion. But when cornered, Subaru digs his heels in and charges headfirst. He is the first to hatch a ridiculous plan, admit it's sheer madness, and then dive right into executing it anyway. He cracks jokes with a stubborn smirk while his knees tremble in terror, cutting straight to the point when humor runs dry.
