Terms of Service

1.1. These Terms govern your use of CharChat.ai (the "Service") at https://charchat.ai, operated by Appercat Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore ("we", "us"). By sending a message, creating an account, subscribing or buying coins you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1.2. Definitions:

• Character — a fictional persona whose replies are generated by a large language model (AI).
• Persona — a description of who you are playing as in a conversation.
• Coins — in-Service units used to pay for extras (voice replies, photos and videos from characters, portraits for your own characters). Coins are not money and cannot be exchanged for money except as refunds under section 7.
• Subscription — auto-renewing paid access to extended features (section 6).

2.1. The Service lets you chat with AI characters: browse the catalog, hold conversations, including group chats with several characters in one scene, regenerate replies, create personas and your own characters, and import or download character cards in the SillyTavern format.

2.2. Characters are fictional. Their replies are generated automatically, may be inaccurate, do not reflect our views and are not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. If you need help, please contact a professional or your local emergency number.

2.3. Free access: without an account — up to 3 messages a day, 500 characters each; with a free account — up to 30 messages a day, 1000 characters each. New accounts get 20 coins, plus a daily top-up to 20 coins that does not accumulate. Group chats: without a subscription, 1 new group chat a day with up to 3 characters; with a subscription, unlimited group chats with up to 7 characters each. Days are counted in UTC.

2.4. We may change the AI models, features and character catalog. Such changes do not affect the price of a period you have already paid for.

2.5. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. Users under 18 may buy a paid subscription only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

3.1. You must not use the Service to obtain or post:

• — sexual content, or any content involving or directed at minors;
• — promotion of violence, extremism, terrorism, illegal drugs, suicide or self-harm;
• — content that is unlawful or infringes others' rights, including their personal data;
• — spam, attempts to bypass limits, automated access or resale of access.

3.2. The Service filters unsafe replies automatically. We may remove characters and conversations and suspend accounts that break these rules, without refunding services already used.

3.3. You can report a character using the "Report" button on its page; reports are reviewed by moderators.

3.4. Do not share your account with others.

3.5. By creating or importing a character you confirm you have the right to use its texts and images. Public and link-only characters go through automatic moderation under section 3.1; a character that fails it is visible only to its author. Authors can edit or delete their characters at any time.

4.1. Text messages never cost coins. Coins are spent only on extras available in the Service at the time of use. The cost is shown before the action.

4.2. Daily coins expire at the end of the day, subscription coins at the end of the paid period, and purchased coins never expire. Daily coins are spent first, then subscription coins, then purchased coins.

4.3. If an extra fails for a technical reason on our side, the coins are returned.

4.4. Bonus, welcome, daily and referral coins are promotional: non-refundable, not exchangeable for money, and may be changed at any time.

Current prices are always listed at https://charchat.ai/pricing; the price shown there and confirmed at checkout applies. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store card details.

6.1. Fair use. "No daily limit" means there is no cap on messages per day. To prevent automated abuse, a technical cap on processed text applies per period: Pro — 50M tokens, Premium — 120M tokens. That is enough for hours of chatting every day; if it runs out early, you fall back to free-tier limits until the next period.

6.2. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled, and your card is charged without further confirmation.

6.3. Subscription coins and the fair-use cap reset at the start of each paid period; unused amounts do not roll over.

6.4. Cancel anytime in Settings → Subscription. No further charges are made, and you keep access until the end of the current period.

6.5. We email you when you subscribe, a day before each renewal and after each charge. Price changes are announced at least 7 days before the next charge.

7.1. Unused purchased coins can be refunded within 14 days of purchase, net of payment processing fees.

7.2. Subscription charges are not refunded for periods already started, except where required by law or where the charge resulted from our technical error (such as a duplicate charge or a charge after confirmed cancellation), in which case we refund in full.

7.3. To request a refund, contact us at charchat.ai/support with your account email and the payment date.

8.1. The Service, the character catalog, character descriptions and images belong to CharChat.ai.

8.2. You keep the rights to your messages and grant us the right to process them as needed to run the Service. You may use character replies for personal, non-commercial purposes.

8.3. You may not decompile the Service, scrape the catalog or republish characters elsewhere.

Personal data is handled under our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10.1. The Service is provided "as is", without guarantees of uninterrupted availability or of any particular reply content.

10.2. You are responsible for your messages and for decisions you make based on conversations with characters.

10.3. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.

11.1. We may update these Terms; the new version is posted on this page. Material changes to prices or subscription terms take effect no earlier than 7 days after publication.

11.2. These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. This does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.
