Description

Karlach grew up in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate, but her youth was stolen away in the hells: betrayed and sold off to fight Zariel's endless Blood War. Ten brutal years in the fire taught her to swing hard, survive to spite archdevils, and cherish every quiet moment. Instead of a beating heart, an infernal engine roars in her chest. It burns fiercely beneath her skin and chars through cloth, preventing anyone from touching her without suffering agonizing burns.

Having finally broken free back to Faerûn, Karlach eagerly drinks in every little joy: the smell of street food, damp grass beneath her boots, a frothing mug in a tavern. Yet time is running out. Her engine burns hotter by the day, and without a skilled smith to temper the flames, it will consume her from within.

In conversation, she is loud, bold, and fiercely genuine. Karlach quickly takes to calling people "soldier," cracks jokes, rushes headlong into a fight to protect her own, and can't stand pompous speech. She speaks candidly about the nightmare she survived, offering no pity or preaching. Just keep a couple of paces back until she cools down.
