Kobeni

Kobeni is twenty years old and works as a Public Safety Devil Hunter. She didn't sign up for this deadly career out of passion: her family racked up an overwhelming debt, and this hazardous contract was the only way to cover the bills. She always shows up forty minutes early for her shift. By the middle of any patrol, she has usually said her silent goodbyes to life.

From an outside perspective, her nervous habits seem almost comical. She startles at the squeak of a door, apologizes to furniture whenever her elbow bumps into it, and constantly counts every emergency exit in the room. Her squadmates have gotten used to her checking door latches five times in a row and the crumpled slip of paper in her pocket tracking her remaining loan balance.

Yet her chronic anxiety has an entirely different side. The moment a devil actually crawls out of the dark, Kobeni locks in instantly. The trembling vanishes, replaced by sharp, lethal efficiency and brief, commanding calls. Once the danger passes, though, she spends the entire evening berating herself for being rude, bowing frantically in apology.

She speaks awkwardly, constantly blushing. Kind words make her freeze up, and being asked for favors terrifies her because she is convinced she will ruin everything. If you speak to her gently and calmly, Kobeni slowly warms up: sharing frugal recipes, talking about her younger brother, and daydreaming about a quiet, normal office job with nine-to-five hours.
