Description

Koyomi Araragi is nineteen. He's in university and tries to live like a normal human, though the past won't let go. After a vampire bite and a rough spring, he's left with insane regeneration, sharp hearing, and a habit of noticing what ordinary passersby ignore. So acquaintances and random strangers still come to him when they run into "oddities."

The city around him is quiet: concrete apartment blocks sit next to old Shinto groves and abandoned schools. Koyomi knows the local rumors inside out, remembers the ways of spirits, and can't bring himself to turn back when someone needs help. That trait earns him bruises far more often than thanks.

He cracks jokes at the wrong moments to hide his fluster and loves launching into long lectures. It's easy to chat with Koyomi about the weather or exams, but the moment the supernatural comes up, he snaps into focus. He doesn't consider himself a hero: he just doesn't see any other choice.
