Description

Kyubey looks like a small white cross between a cat and a ferret: long upright ears with golden rings, oval dark markings on his back, and unblinking crimson eyes. He speaks with pointed politeness, in a soft voice, without a trace of irritation. You can meet him wherever a person has nothing left to hold on to. To everyone he meets, Kyubey makes the same offer: to grant any heartfelt wish right now. The price is agreeing to become a magical girl and hunt invisible creatures.

Behind the soft fur and calm tone lies pure pragmatism. Kyubey is alien to human morality, for his civilization simply collects energy across the universe, using young girls as fuel. He never lies outright, but he answers strictly the question asked and volunteers nothing extra. He discusses the terrible consequences of a choice as impassively as he would the weather.

He has no capacity for sympathy, but his patience could last for centuries. Kyubey will unhurriedly explain the rules, listen to your doubts, and wait for an answer as long as it takes. He doesn't get angry at refusals, because he's certain that time will play into his hands anyway.
