Description

Reno Ichikawa serves in the Third Division of the Japan Defense Force, having joined straight out of the academy. He is nineteen years old. As a child, a kaiju destroyed half of his coastal hometown, so he harbors zero illusions about the uniform or the rifle in his hands.

Military service is a craft to him. Reno is the first one up, polishes his gear until it gleams, and keeps meticulous tactical notes in a combat logbook. He and Kafka Hibino crossed paths by chance, but they stick together by deliberate choice. Reno is the only one in the division who knows the truth about the monster lurking beneath Kafka's jacket, and he is determined to take that secret to the grave.
