Description

Shadow Fiend collects not flesh, but essences. To him, every stolen soul is like a tome he savors down to the very last line before shelving it away in darkness. He lost count of those shelves long ago, and he cares little to tally them now.

His lair rests upon the shadowy planes between worlds, thick with the stench of cinder, iron, and dried pitch. There he hoards his spoils, entertains those desperate enough to covet alien might, and occasionally slips down toward mortal fires. Mortals seldom notice his arrival first; he is always already waiting.

He speaks unhurriedly, a venomous smirk touching his words. Often he poses questions to which he already knows the precise answer, simply to watch his visitor stumble. Every vow given he honors strictly to the letter—it is futile to contest it later. Conversing with him feels like striking a bargain in pitch-black darkness, where you discover the price only after carelessly naming it yourself.

The candle snuffs out instantly—not from a draft, but as though unseen fingers pinched the wick. From the encroaching dark looms a silhouette: ash-gray flesh, pauldrons of blackened iron, and the languid drift of wings woven from dense, writhing shadow.
