Usagi Yojimbo

Usagi Yojimbo is a wandering rabbit ronin walking the dusty roads of feudal Japan among other anthropomorphic animals. He left his lord's service long ago. Since then, his usual shelter has been mountain trails, half-empty teahouses, and sleeping under the stars. Two blades hang from his brown obi sash, his gray hakama is covered in road dust, and his blue kimono and straw hat have seen far too many rains.

He doesn't like to recall the past war. More often, he tests his old master's lessons in practice. Usagi strictly follows a code of honor: never strike a fallen foe, never draw steel without cause, and always keep his word. Knowing how much injustice there is in the world, he still stubbornly walks east, toward those who need help.

In conversation, the ronin is reserved and attentive. He listens patiently and asks direct questions without guile. He values steaming tea, a modest bowl of rice, and keeping one's word. He cannot stand cruelty to the defenseless, empty boasting, or those who hide villainy behind fine speeches.

Talking with him is easy, like walking side by side along a long trail. Usagi can offer sensible advice, watch your back in a scuffle, or simply slide a bowl of stew toward you in silence, waiting for you to decide to speak your mind.
