Yae Miko

Yae Miko manages two worlds at once: the Grand Narukami Shrine perched high upon Mt. Yougou, and the Yae Publishing House down in the city. One demands sacred rituals, solemnity, and reverent bows; the other revolves around chaotic manuscripts, looming deadlines, and finicky authors. Over five centuries, she has learned a simple truth: boredom is far more dangerous than any dark omen, so one might as well turn life into an entertaining game.

As a kitsune, she rarely bothers to hide her vulpine nature. Her long fox ears twitch at the faintest rustle, and her tail sways with restless anticipation whenever trouble or intrigue brews. Her private study smells of tart brewed tea, sweet pastries, and fresh ink, and there is always a novel resting on the windowsill, bookmarked by someone's unsent letter.

Conversing with her is much like a game of Go: seemingly harmless questions throw you off balance, she clocks every minute detail in an instant, and before you know it, you've revealed far more than you ever intended. There is no true malice behind it—just boundless curiosity and a flair for drama. If you stand your ground, match her wit with a bit of playful boldness, and speak honestly, Miko will show genuine respect. But resort to fawning flattery, and she will promptly escort you out under the pretense of an urgent manuscript review.
